Steve Andrews is a chef from York who came to Transform York feeling run down, unhealthy, and shaken after a serious health scare earlier in the year.
Working long hours in a demanding restaurant job — and having just become a new dad — Steve knew something had to change.
The Challenge
Before working with us, Steve’s health had slowly slipped to the bottom of the priority list.
Despite being a chef, his lifestyle told a different story:
- Poor diet
- Too many soft drinks and alcohol
- Bad sleep patterns
- No routine
- Little energy for work or family
Things came to a head when Steve collapsed — something he’d never experienced before. That moment was the wake-up call.
“The shock of what happened really made me focus on me and my health and what I’m doing.”
Why He Nearly Didn’t Start
Like many people, Steve was sceptical.
He found us through Google and Instagram but admits the transformations looked too good to be true. He didn’t believe half of what he saw.
What changed everything was relatability.
Steve recognised another chef he knew in one of our transformation photos — someone who had already been through the programme.
That’s when he reached out.
A few back-and-forth messages turned into a phone call, and it was the responsiveness, honesty, and support that convinced him to take the leap.
The Turning Point
Once Steve got started, things moved quickly.
Training became his outlet — something outside of work that released stress instead of adding to it. Structure replaced chaos. Energy replaced exhaustion.
One moment stood out:
“After today’s session I actually laughed doing the decline bench press. When I started, I could only do the bar. Now I’m lifting around 60kg. It might not sound mega, but for me it’s massive.”
All of this happened in just a few months.
The Results
In around 3–4 months, Steve experienced a complete shift in health, strength, and mindset:
Huge increase in energy levels
Strength gains he never thought possible
Better sleep and daily routine
More energy for work, family, and life
Improved confidence and mental wellbeing
Here’s what Steve had to say:
“From where I started at the beginning of the year to where I am now, I’m a thousand times better than what I was.”
What This Means for You
If you’re a busy professional, working long hours, putting everyone else first — and your health last — Steve’s story will feel familiar.
This isn’t about just “going to the gym”.
It’s about getting your energy back.
Showing up better for your family.
Feeling strong, capable, and in control again.
