Jenny is a 27-year-old nurse who works from home and came to Transform York at a time when life felt completely unstructured.
Outside of work, most of her time was spent at home, sitting down, playing video games, and snacking — with no routine, no structure, and very little interest in improving her health.
The Challenge
Before starting the programme, Jenny admits she wasn’t thinking about health at all.
Food was purely about convenience and comfort:
- Eating whenever she felt hungry
- No interest in nutrition or food quality
- Constant snacking — when happy, stressed, bored, or celebrating
- Short-term comfort followed by long-term regret
At the same time, Jenny’s mental health was suffering. She ended up taking eight months off work, and toward the end of that time, things became even harder.
After an injury left her immobile on crutches, Jenny developed a blood clot — something incredibly serious, especially at just 27 years old.
That moment forced a hard question:
“Where do I even start with making positive changes?”
Why She Nearly Didn’t Start
Jenny didn’t actively go looking for a personal trainer.
She first heard about Transform York through her hairdresser, who had trained there, loved it, and shared it on social media.
Even then, Jenny was hesitant. She wasn’t sure it was for her and hadn’t considered anything like this before. But after doing some research and speaking with Tom, she felt reassured.
“I never felt pressured into joining — it was completely my decision.”
That sense of support, rather than sales pressure, made it feel safe to take the first step.
The Turning Point
Jenny didn’t start with weight loss as the goal.
She started by focusing on strength, routine, and doing something positive for her body after everything it had been through.
With guidance from Tom and Ryan, she began to understand food properly — not restriction, but nutrition:
- Portion sizes
- Food quality
- Fueling her body rather than punishing it
As a by-product of those changes, weight loss followed naturally — but more importantly, confidence and stability returned.
The Results
Jenny’s progress went far beyond physical changes:
Improved mental health
Increased confidence
A clear daily routine and structure
Better understanding of nutrition
Weight loss as a by-product of healthier habits
Feeling stronger, safer, and more capable in her body
Here’s how Jenny describes it:
“It was more of an investment in my life and my routine than the financial side.”
What initially felt like a big commitment quickly became something she sees as completely worth it.
“From the amount of progress and knowledge I’ve got from every single session — it’s so worth it.”
What This Means for You
If you’re struggling with routine…
If your mental health has taken a hit…
If food feels out of control and you don’t know where to start…
You don’t need to have it all figured out before you begin.
Sometimes, the first step is simply choosing to invest in yourself — and letting the support do the rest.
